#11 – Engagement visions

Before this, I wasn’t really into the idea of having an engagement. I thought it was unnecessary, waste of money, and steals the excitement from the big day.

But now… I’m so excited for my engagement!

Although part of me still thinks that it is unnecessary, waste of money, and steal the excitement from the big day (kinda). I guess, as long as its done in moderation, it should be fine.

Anyways, I’ve always wanted a low-key and intimate one if I were to ever be engaged.

So, it’s less than 3 months till we upgrade our status!

And I’ve brainstormed my visions. Finally…… I can really take my pinterest board for engagement ideas seriously!

Things I’m planning to give to A:

1) a man-gagement ring. Reason being, we’ve had 2 couple rings which is probably about 6 to 7 years already. My man deserve to put a (new) ring on it too!

2) a chocolate cake from prima deli, with the very important CAKE TOPPER!

3) those fruit tarts, or brownie platter, or macarons, or quiches from cbtl’s party pack. Have always wanted to order it for eating at home, now I have a valid reason to order it. Also, with MINI TOPPERS too!

4) that paco rabanne invictus perfume (which we got from sephora’s december sale!) + about 3 more bottles of the inspired ones from dexandra.

5) DIY bunga rampai. What I envision it to be is in those small square cups, bottom part to be covered in black silk ribbon, sticker of our initials  (or some sort) in the middle, and specifically with baby’s breath sitting on the bed of bunga rampai.

As for food, I was thinking of sabsuka… and something else. Haven’t thought much of what to feed my guests with. I would also probably wear what I already own, and do my own makeup. My goal is to spend as minimal as possible.

#10 – Videographer & DJ booked!

Yesterday A told me that we are meeting up with the guy from Merah in Motion! Our discussion was done at the outoor seating area of McD Northpoint, instead of Starbucks. Reason being, it was full house, and finding seats at McD was also by luck!

So as A was queing up to buy drinks, the person arrived with his wife and their baby. We chatted for a bit. It wasn’t really awkward or pressurising at all, and I can just tell that he was a nice person. It wasn’t too formal, yet not too casual. It was…. chill. He asked whether we have settled our bridal, which I said no, and he shared that usually his clients have usually booked a bridal. Well, our priorties are not like the typical couples I guess. I asked for his opinion whether is it too early, average or too late in doing bookings in any aspects, and I was relieved when he said it was average. However he shared that its wedding season from October onwards, and that made me feel more kiasu now.

As soon as A arrived, he showed us the pdf brochure and went through every single point with clear and straight-forward explanation. I did asked a few questions and he also did ask us if we have any different customs during our ceremony, took in consideration if any family members are conservative towards intimate poses (in which A responded that we are halal already… true, right!), whether we are comfortable being recorded or to talk to the camera and so forth. I can also tell that he is very experienced… and I trust him to direct me in the videos.

A’s expectation was also made clear to him, as long as our video had a storyline and I think he should pick up on the feels and emotions on the video should be felt.

So A had made the deposit later that night and our wedding videographer is booked! Next on the list will be photographer and bridal!!!

DJ has also been booked, 2 days ago by A. We engaged a friend of his and I trust him to deliver the best too.

#9 – Wedding discussion

Besides the venue, bridal and photo+video is the next most difficult one to decide on.

Catering wasn’t an issue and we were dead set on Doulath. I didn’t even do any research on other catering vendors and went straight to Doulath for quotations.

Anyway, I have been dying to sit down with A to discuss the 2 important thing which was bridal and photo+video. So yesterday, we discussed over at McDonald’s. He was running a fever, but still wanted to keep going…. I felt like a bridezilla. And unfortunately, there wasn’t any power point and I stupidly didn’t charge my laptop fully, so we didn’t manage to discuss bridal.

Over the weeks, I have collated all the information I got into powerpoint slides. Complete with pictures (for bridals), costs of the packages, additional info, deliverables, and the likes.

I asked A if he would like to discuss bridal or photo+video, and his immediate response was the latter, obviously.

So I had information and quotations from like 15 different vendors. I went through each slide with him and showed him their work samples on my phone. It kinda felt like I was doing presentation, but I needed to share with him, so yeah.

By the time the powerpoint slides was done, my laptop died on me. He had seen how crazy some vendors charge, way beyond our budget, and I can tell he wasn’t keen or impressed. So we narrowed down to the 3 vendors that suits us the best, namely, The Piction Makers, Media Mavericks, and Merah in Motion. The sad thing is that MIM only does video… whereas the other 2 offers both! I was so torn.

The Piction Makers is affordable, and the deliverables was what I wish all vendors would provide or return us back. Media Mavericks has the kind of style that I like, and deploys 2 photographers and 2 videographers, but I wasn’t satisfied with the deliverables. And lastly, Merah in Motion just makes me cry everytime I watch their vidoes on FB and IG. And that was something I thought was good. If just by watching other couple’s wedding video can make me cry, it means it was able to capture the feels and emotions, doesn’t it? Well, either that, or I am just a crybaby, or their style was just the right one for me. Plus the deliverables was something that I was satisfied with too.

Anw, previously A had contacted one of the videographers personally, and I was so brokenhearted when he told me that they were’nt available on our chosen date. I told him that this was the reason why we should block our dates earlier etc etc bla bla bla. But not till early this week that I decided to drop them an email, cus I wasn’t convinced and basically wanted to try my luck. And….. apparently they still have slots!!! I immediately screenshot the email and Whatsapped A. So yesterday, we felt that MIM was really the one that we should engage for our wedding. We both love the quality and style, plus A was involved as a Best Man at his friend’s wedding and kinda worked with MIM, so I felt that it was a safe choice as he had seen them work before. The only thing is that, we would then need to look for a photographer. Nevertheless, I emailed MIM to let them know and it felt so safe to do it with A around. You know, some things just needed to be done with your significant other. Especially for a person like me, I really depend on his opinion alot.

Now I’m just awaiting reply from MIM and am emailing the prospective photographers. Argh….. so happy to get MIM. Even happier if they had photography too… but still… so happy to get them!
